Book Recommendations!

Reading has always been a comfort to me. My favorite place to visit, as a child, was the Greenlake Public Library in Seattle. I remember the sturdy stairs leading up to the library, and the distinct and familiar smell of the dust, the people and the books. Books have been a constant in my life, through many ups and downs throughout the years.

When I needed mentors for parenting, relationships, recovery and other life skills, like cooking and gardening, books were there for me. When I wanted escape by reading about all the places I would like to travel, books were there for me. On yearly road trips to Montana, books on tape or CD (remember those?), and downloadable audiobooks kept me company.

The written and spoken word has always had power and influence. That is why I have compiled a booklist of some of my favorites. I have read (and reread) all of these and recommend them to clients when appropriate. I always put out the disclaimer saying that these books are written from someone's experience and perspective, and each of us would be wise to practice discernment...take what you want and leave the rest! Now the list, in no particular order...not even alphabetical! Challenge to try to "let it go" to librarians, bibliophiles, and perfectionists everywhere!
